Our CEO Albert Hasper looks back on a very successful 2021 and states PHIX’s ambitions for 2022.
For the second year in a row, people in The Netherlands had to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve in the partial isolation of a lockdown. While I was missing having my complete family around me during this holiday period, I took some time to write you how PHIX has been doing in 2021.
PHIX is looking back on a very successful 2021 and we have our customers to thank for that. PHIX started its operations only in 2018 and it’s impressive to see all the companies we are serving with our capabilities today. In 2021 we had more customer engagements than ever, despite the COVID-19 situation. We packaged PICs of various different photonic platforms (such as silicon nitride, indium phosphide and silicon photonics) that came from many different foundries from around the world. This clearly shows the diversity of the technology and its applications and proves that the photonics industry is thriving!
For 2022 we foresee further growth with our customers. We expect that PHIX will be part of the upscaling of many products that our customers have been developing with us over the last few years. Therefore, in order to be ready for a further expansion of our photonics packaging operations, we will start looking for a new facility where PHIX can continue to serve the needs of our current en future customers.
Reflecting on the growth and success of PHIX is impossible without acknowledging our amazing team. This group of experts of more than 12 nationalities has been serving the integrated photonics industry with their experience, ambition, innovation, and great vibes. I very much look forward to spending another year with my colleagues and welcoming even more talent to PHIX in 2022!
In the face of the COVID-19 crisis, technology has helped us find new ways to collaborate, connect, and communicate. So I hope that despite the restrictions with regard to physical gatherings, we can continue to keep in touch and work together. I wish all our followers a very joyful, healthy, and successful new year 2022! Let’s take another step to move the integrated photonics industry forward.
Yours sincerely, Albert Hasper
